Chris Kreider Heating Things Up for Team USA

Former Valley Jr. Warrior standout Chris Kreider (now of the New York Rangers) is heating things up for the U.S. Men’s National Team in the 2018 IIHF World Championships. The International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship takes place in Copenhagen and Herning Denmark, from May 4-20, 2018.

 

Kreider ranks nineteenth in scoring leaders with 2 goals and 5 assists in his 6 games played so far with his plus/minus currently at a +5.

 

The U.S. Men's National Team has taken part in the International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship since 1928. The tournament annually crowns the world champion at the top level of men's ice hockey. The U.S. has won a total of 11 medals in the event; winning gold once, silver four times and bronze six times. Team USA is now 7-0 including a 3-2 win over Denmark in an exhibition game. Other game results are posted below.

 

Friday May 4 – USA tops Canada 5-4 in a shootout.

Saturday May 5 – USA shuts out Denmark 4-0.

Monday May 7 – USA turns away Germany 4-0.

Thursday May 10 – USA skates past Latvia 3-2 in ovetime.

Friday May 11 – USA edges out South Korea 13-1.

Sunday May 13 – USA upends Norway 9-2.

 

Kreider, a Boxford, MA native was with the Valley Jr. Warriors for four years from 2004-2008. Team USA is set to take on Finland on Tuesday, May 15 in a preliminary game. Quarterfinal play will begin on Thursday, May 17.
