Steve Macadams

Steve MacAdams is entering his 8th season as Player / Program Director with the Warriors. He is an accomplished professional with more than 30 years of progressive coaching experience. He comes with a strong reputation in player and program development where he has worked with numerous players and organizations throughout the United States.

He previously served as director of operations for Paul Vincent’s Dynamic Skating Ltd., one of the top hockey consulting and development camps in the United States. MacAdams, a two year captain at Salem State College, has coached from the youth level through the Junior and college ranks. Recently, MacAdams' has coached our '97 and ’02 Elite team, who have won the Massachusetts Select Championship and advanced to the USA Hockey Nationals. He has also coached U16 and U18 teams in the program. He also serves as assistant coach at Austin Prep School.

General Manager/Head Coach Juniors

Andy Heinze

Andy Heinze is director of hockey operations for the Valley Jr. Warriors and is the head coach and general manager of the VJW Junior team. In his first year as coach of the Junior team, Heinze was honored as the EJHL Coach of the Year. He received that honor once again in 2001 and most recently in 2012. Heinze, a former captain of the 1989-90 Merrimack College team, began coaching at his alma mater in 1993 following a three-year professional career in Europe. He holds the Merrimack school record for most games played with 144 and currently ranks 10th on Merrimack's all-time scoring list with 77 goals and 89 assists for 166 points.

Jeremy Tabb

Since 2010, Jeremy has worked closely with Andy Heinze and the VJW Junior program. He has an extensive background in training young players and improving their overall skills. His work on stride and skating development for numerous teams and individuals has made him well known in the hockey community. He has also owned and operated the Owner Pride Hockey School since 2008. A 1990 graduate of Cathedral High School, Tabb went on to enjoy a successful playing career at UMass-Lowell and Elmira College and then as a professional player for four years in France.

U18 Tier 1 Half Season

Andrew Andricopoulos

Andrew grew up in Groveland, MA before attending Tabor Academy. At 16, he moved to Quebec City to play for the Quebec Remparts in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he lived with, and played for, NHL Hall of Famer Patrick Roy. Andrew was a member of the 2006 Memorial Cup Championship team and played alongside current NHL stars Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Alexandre Radulov. Andrew holds several defensemen scoring records in Quebec Remparts history. After his QMJHL career, Andrew attended several NHL and AHL camps before playing 60 games in the ECHL in the Washington Capitals and San Jose Sharks systems. Upon completion of his professional career, he returned to play Division 1 hockey in Fredericton, NB for St. Thomas University under the coaching of former NHL player Mike Eagles. Andrew is the U.S. Scout for the QMJHL. Andrew is also entering his 1st season as Assistant Coach of Men's Varsity Hockey at Brooks School. He resides in Groveland, MA.

U16 Tier I Half Season

Bill Pappas

Assistant coach for both the U-18 and 02 Elite squads, Bill has been with the VJW program as a defensive coach since 2006. Bill has assisted the '97 Elite Tier 1 team since 2009 and has been to the Nationals with that team several times. Bill is a former Malden Catholic, New Prep and Westfield State player/Alumni. In 2012-13 season, he joined the Austin Prep High School Varsity program as an assistant coach and is currently heading up the defense.

U16 Tier II Half Season

Scott Brown

A resident of Georgetown, Scott is enjoying his sixth year as head coach with the Warriors. He has been coaching in the program for eight seasons and coached in the North Andover Youth Hockey program prior to that. Brown played high school hockey at Worcester Academy and Minnechaug HS, and continued playing while at UMass Amherst. He has stayed involved in the sport currently serving as Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Boston Bruins. Scott has two boys playing with the Warriors and a daughter with the North Shore Vipers.

U15 Tier 1 Half Season

Mike Addesa

Mike Addesa will be entering his 3rd season with the Valley Junior Warriors. Addesa played his junior hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds in the SJHL. He then played four years at Amherst College and was a member of the the 1991-92 ECAC North-South Championship team. After college he spent two years coaching junior hockey for the Boston Bulldogs and the Matt O'Neil Lightning in the EJHL. Addesa has spent the last 10 years coaching youth hockey at all levels from Learn to Skate through Bantams for both boys and girls.

U14 Full Season

Dave Sacco

David Sacco will serve as head coach of the U14 Full season team. Dave stands as the second all-time leading scorer at Boston University and was a First Team NCAA All-American. He was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1988 NHL Draft. Dave spent two years with the Maple Leafs before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks. Sacco also represented the United States at the 1993 World Championships and the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer.

2004 Elite

Bruce Irving

Bruce has been coaching in the Warrior organization for the last three years. Irving brings thirty years of coaching experience to our organization.  He was an assistant coach with Triton Regional High School from 1985 to 1997.

Bruce then served as their head varsity coach from 1997 through 2002.  For the next eleven seasons, Irving was an assistant coach at Harvard University with added focus on developing their goaltenders. After one split season as head coach of the East Coast Wizards U18, Bruce turned his focus primarily to the youth level. Irving also serves as an assistant coach with the VJW Premier and Elite junior teams as well as an assistant coach with St. John's Prep.

Bruce is a Director at Stop It Goaltending and a Board Member at The Foundation for Goaltending Research and Education.  Irving played his college hockey at Cornell University graduating in 1985.  Bruce resides in Newbury with his wife Janice and their sons Jackson and Carson.

Jack Blaeser

Jack Blaeser brings 10 years of head coach experience and level 4 certification with the Jr Warriors where he has led multiple teams to league championship and E9 qualification. More importantly he focuses on a philosophy of strong fundamentals, the value of hard work, and uses competitive sports as the ideal playground for cultivating important life long values and lessons with his players. Jack played throughout his youth where he was captain of St. John's Prep (Danvers) and went on to play at Brown University.

2005 Elite

Brian Cronin

A resident of Andover, Brian has been coaching in the Warrior organization for the last five years. Prior to coaching youth hockey, Brian served as the assistant varsity coach at Central Catholic for 10 years from 2001-2011. Cronin played his college hockey at Colby from 1992-1996 and captained the team his senior season. In addition to earning All-American honors for his senior campaign at Colby, Brian was named the ECAC Player of the Year.

2005 Select

Craig Kneeland

Craig resides in Methuen with his wife and 3 sons. He is returning for his second year as the head coach of the 2005 select team. He is a level 4 USA Hockey Coach that coached in the Somerville Youth Hockey and Methuen Youth Hockey programs. He grew up playing for Somerville High School, St. Michael's College, and is a NIHOA Referee.

2006 Elite

Marc Griffin

Marc Griffin returns to the Warriors for a fifth straight season. Griffin is a North Shore native and a former VJW player. A resident of North Reading, Griffin grew up playing for both Triton Youth Hockey and the Warriors. Upon graduating from Austin Prep High School, Griffin went on to play at Bentley University and became captain of the 1998 team. After college Griffin was an assistant coach on the VJW Junior team and has coached with the North Reading Youth Hockey program.

2006 Select

Jason Carlson

A resident of North Andover, Jason returns to the Warriors for the fourth straight season as the 2006 Squirt Minor Select Team head coach. Jason grew up playing for Beverly High School and went on to play for Saint Michael’s College where he received the Ice Knight Award in 1996. Throughout college and for several years after graduating, Carlson worked as a coach for Dynamic Skating.

2007 Elite

Brian Ward

Brian Ward joins the Warriors for the 2017-2018 season as the head coach of the 2007 Elite team. Brian has a strong back ground in skating and skills development. He has coached at the Mite level for the past five seasons. Brian played at Plymouth High School and went on to play four years at Saint Anselm College. A practicing Attorney, Brian lives in Melrose with his wife and three children.

2007 Select

Glenn Sheehan

Glenn Sheehan is entering his fifth season in coaching, and third as coach of the Warriors 2007 Select team. He led the 2016-17 team to a BHL (American) championship title. He stresses being competitive and a good teammate to his players. Glenn played his youth hockey in the Metro Boston league, was a standout at North Andover High School (co-captain of the 1991 team) and went on to play college hockey at Bentley.

2008 Elite

Glen Thornborough

Glen Thornborough joined the Warrior program in 2015 as the ’08 Elite assistant coach. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in the sport. He played Junior Hockey in Canada for the Winkler Flyers (1990-92), before moving on to College Hockey at the University of Alaska, Anchorage in the WCHA (1992-96), where he was captain for the Seawolves. Glen also gained professional coaching experience at the minor league level. He resides in Boxford, MA and is the Chief Revenue Officer of the Boston Bruins/TD Garden.

Chris Logue

Chris Logue grew up in North Andover, MA playing in the North Andover Youth hockey program. He played his High School/Prep School hockey at Cushing Academy (1988) serving as Team Captain before moving on to the University of Notre Dame (1992). Chris will be entering his third season coaching for the Warriors program. He previously spent several seasons coaching for Masco Youth Hockey.Chris's coaching philosophy emphasizes individual skill progression to ensure the long term development of each player. Chris, is a former resident of Boxford, now resides in Boston, and is a father of four.

2009 Elite

Phil Mericantante

Phil Mericantante, a resident of North Reading, returns to the Warriors for his second season as head coach of the 09 Elite team. He played high school hockey at Matignon, winning a state championship in 1993, before attending Stonehill College. Prior to joining the Warrior program, he coached North Reading Youth Hockey.

2009 Select

Ken Madill

​​Ken Madill grew up in Medford MA where he played youth hockey and continued playing as an adult in various men's leagues. He now resides in Georgetown MA with his wife and 2 children. Ken holds a USA Hockey Level Three Certification in coaching. In the past, Ken served on the Danvers Youth Hockey Board of Directors, and has coached Mites through PeeWees for over seven years. His philosophy promotes individual skill development, team work, and helping each player achieve their personal goals.
