Warriors' Alex Carpenter Shines in Governor's Victory |

 The Jr Warriors’ own Alex Carpenter is enjoying quite a first season for The Governor’s Academy. The ’94 Elites standout player capped off an impressive eighth-grade season by earning Tournament MVP honors at the New England Division II Championship. Carpenter, who led the Govs to a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory against Middlesex in the final game, figured in on every goal her team scored throughout the week.
In the team’s championship victory against Middlesex, Carpenter was yet again the offensive sparkplug for her team.
After following behind 1-0 in the first period, Carpenter collected a pass from teammate Alanna McDonough deep in the slot and evened the contest at one goal apiece. Carpenter struck again in the second stanza with a blast from the left face-off circle. The two teams remained deadlocked until the second overtime period when Carpenter assisted on the game winner. The victory marked the Governor’s first ice hockey title in the 24-year history of the program.
 Throughout the playoff run, Carpenter shined by posting a remarkable five goals and four assists in four games. Her Tournament MVP honor capped off a season in which the 13-year-old registered 37 goals and 41 assists through just 23 games.
Carpenter, whose father Bob Carpenter is an 18-year NHL veteran player and coach and the current director of program development for the Jr Warriors, has always shown special athletic talent from an early age. During her first year of Mite B hockey, she posted an incredible 50 goals.
She was also the first girl to play in the Morristown, NJ Little League in 25 years and was the first girl to ever play as a 10-year-old. Her national resume is also quickly taking shape as she has played in three national hockey tournaments for the New Jersey Colonials.
There is simply no question that this is just the beginning for young Carpenter. The ’94 Elites star is sure to continue to make her mark both regionally and nationally! | |
