Season Comes to a Close for Warriors Junior "A" Squad |

The 2007-08 season has come to an end for Andy Heinze's Jr Warriors team this week. Following a 7-5 playoff defeat against the New England Jr. Huskies on Wednesday at the Foxboro Sports Center, the team will have to now set its sights on the 2008-09 season. After spotting the Huskies a 4-1 lead through the first 23:15, the Warriors battled back but came just short of a dramatic come-from-behind victory. The team finished the regular season with an 18-23-3 record.
  After capturing four of its final five regular season games, the Warriors appeared in perfect position to make a run at the EJHL title. Unfortunately, the momentum came to a screeching halt as the team could not find a way to manage the potent Huskies offense.
The Warriors jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after team top scorer Chris Wyman (Bartlett, IL) found the back of the net at the 3:51 mark of the first period. The Huskies stormed back by scoring four unanswered goals. Brian Albert (Redlands, CA), Kyle Haines (Topsfield, MA) - who was coming off a season-ending weekend in which he scored an incredible eight goals and one assist in five games - and Danny Wood (Cincinatti, OH) all scored in the second period. But each time the Warriors made a move, the Huskies had an answer as they outscored the Warriors by a 5-3 margin in that period.
  In the final stanza, Michael Fransen (Burtonsville, MD) narrowed the deficit to two goals with his second goal of the year. Unfortunately it was just too little too late for the Warriors who fell to the Huskies for the sixth time this season.
Wyman finished the season with 23 goals and 31 points (54 points), while Haines was just four points back with 50 poiints (24 goals, 26 assists).
Tryouts for the 2008-09 season Junior "A" season will be held in March. Please check back to the web site for more details.
