 It was an exciting and successful weekend for several VJW teams that took part in the 2010 John W. Kennedy Memorial Hockey Tournament held at rinks located across Rhode Island. In action this holiday weekend were the following Valley Jr Warriors squads: '97 Selects, '99 Selects, '00 Elites, '00 Selects, '01 Elites and '02 Elites.
Special congratulations to the ’00 Elites squad which captured the championship title following a big victory over the Worcester Crusaders on the final day. Also advancing to Monday’s playoff round were the ’01 Elites who were defeated by the Providence Capitals in the championship and the ’02 Elites who advanced to the semifinals where they fell to the Bay State Breakers.

It will be a busy weekend for a handful of Valley Jr Warriors teams as they will travel across the state border to take part in the 2010 John W. Kennedy Memorial Hockey Tournament. Competition will be held beginning on Thursday, January 14 and run through Monday, January 18.
VJW ’97 Selects
This '97 Selects will be looking forward to continuing its strong play this weekend. Thus far, the Warriors have posted an 11-10-1 record in the New England Hockey League's National Conference. The squad is battling for the top spot in that division with Assabet, Vipers and Monarchs.

Mark Lester's squad is enjoying another strong season. Competing in the Massachusetts State Select League, the Warriors are off to a great start as they have posted 13 victories, six losses and one tie to stand in second place overall. The team is coming off an impressive performance at the New Year's Classic where the Warriors won three of their four games.

Peter King’s VJW ’00 Elites squad is battling well in the New England Hockey League’s Squirt Minor American division. Thus far, the Warriors have posted a 12-8-3 record. The team also advanced to the semifinals of the 2009 Warrior Thanksgiving Tournament where they posted strong wins against the New Jersey Devils and Red Rangers.

VJW ’01 Elites
The Valley Jr Warriors ’01 Elites have been in a battle all season long for the top position in the New England Hockey League’s Mite American division. The team has posted a 12-4-1 record and currently sits in second place behind the New Hampshire Avalanche ‘01s. Earlier this season, the Warriors advanced to the finals of the 2009 Warrior Thanksgiving Tournament. Along the way, the team knocked off impressive competition such as the Bridgewater Bandits, Connecticut Clippers and the East Coast Wizards.

VJW ’02 Elites
The Warriors are playing well beyond their years in many ways. The VJW ’02 Elites have been competing in the New England Hockey League’s Mite National division against ’01 level teams. The 2010 John W. Kennedy Memorial Hockey Tournament marks the team’s second major tournament. The Warriors advanced to the finals of the 2009 Warrior Thanksgiving Tournament earlier this season at the Malden Valley Forum. In that tournament, the squad scored victories over the Middlesex Islanders and East Coast Wizards.
