Alex Carpenter Continues to Dominate Womens Hockey

North Reading native Alex Carpenter is currently a center for the Shenzen KRS Vanke Rays in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). She currently sits in sixth place in league-wide points with 11 goals and 9 assists for a total of 20 points in her 18 game so far this season. She is one of two Americans in the top ten for points in the league.

 

Alex played three full seasons with the Warriors from 2006-2009 spending her Peewee Major through Bantam Major seasons here. Carpenter is also the older sister of Boston University standout player Bobo Carpenter. The 24-year-old is an Olympic Medalist, World Champion, BC Hockey alum, Governor’s Academy alum.


Carpenter has received several honors and awards throughout her hockey career including the following: 2015 Patty Kazmaier Award, 2015 CCM Hockey Women’s Division I All-Americans, First Team, 2015 First overall pick in the NWHL Draft by the New York Riveters, Best Forward in the 2011 IIHF World Women’s U18 Championship, Hockey East Rookie of the Month October 2011, December 2011, Hockey East Player of the Week December 12, 2011, December 15, 2014 Hockey East Player of the Month October 2014, November 2014, and 2014-15 Hockey East First Team All-Star.
Carpenter completed four years at Boston College from 2011-2016 serving as assistant captain her junior year and captain during her senior campaign. Carpenter currently leads her team in points for the season and looks to continue her success this season as she heads into the weekend taking on Montreal on both Saturday and Sunday.
